Plasma-Sprayed TiN Coatings in a Reactive Nitrogen Atmosphere with Pure Titanium Wire

H. Yang, H. -. L. Chen, Xi'an Research Institute of High Technology, Xi’an, China

TiN coating is prepared by reactive plasma spraying. Phase analysis and surface morphological analysis is done through XRD,SEM. The results show that the coating mainly consists of TiN, Ti. The structure of the coating is multilayer which includes rich horniness and rich flexible composition stacking together. The Vickers hardness indentation show that the toughness of the composite coatings is much better than that of the Zr02 coatings.
