Requirements for New or Alternate Sources and Processes for Titanium Wrought Products

H. Phelps, Lockheed-Martin, Marietta, GA

The F/A-22 program is now ramping up to full rate production. This will require qualification of additional suppliers of both raw materials and forgings. In order to ensure the integrity of the Raptor's design is maintained, the mechanical properties of potential sources must meet the original program design allowables. This presentation will cover the test requirements for the new and alternate material sources. In addition, the success criteria for qualification will be described.
