Session 1: Space Shuttle: Columbia Aftermath and Return to Flight
Location: Coral C (Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: On February 2, 2003, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated during reentry over the skies of the southwest United States. For the past two years, considerable effort has been expended performing failure analyses on the Columbia debris to understand the causes of this failure and improving processes to safely return the Space Shuttle to flight. This session will focus on the failure analyses of the Columbia debris, on-going efforts to improve the safety of Space Shuttle flight, and development of new materials and processes for on-orbit repairs.
