Overview:

Computer-based modeling and simulation is becoming commonplace for the engineering of aerospace products. The aerospace industry is leading the way toward integration of scientific and engineering tools that are developed by the scientific community and utilized by industry. New alloys are being designed based on first principle methods. Existing alloys and products are being optimized by use of modeling tools with the avoidance of trial-and-error modification and assessment. Metal and alloy modeling, processed modeling, and design application of modeling tools will be presented. Champion: D. U. Furrer, Ladish Company
