Summary: This presentation summarizes the results of optical, SEM and TEM characterization of the microstucture evolution in Ti-5Al-5V-5Mo-3Cr after solution heat treatment in the alpha beta range and after various aging cycles. Assessment of ageing response was based on changes in mechanical properties and hardness with ageing time. The aging times selected for analysis represent inflection points in the ageing time/hardness curve and significant changes in mechanical properties. The relationship between microstucture and mechanical properties resulting from these ageing cycles is explored in relation to the decomposition of Beta phase during ageing.
