Overview:
These sessions will focus on several technology areas, addressing recent developments. Main topics include approaches to obtaining “low cost” titanium, via approaches such as the Armstrong process for separation from the ore and the potential for using single (hearth) melt material rather than requiring the final melt to be VAR. There are also several presentations addressing Boron additions, minor and higher levels to improved processing and improve properties respectively. Metal additive approaches will also be discussed. There also interesting discussions on modeling, different manufacturing methods, welding, forming, and alloys. These discussions represent the state-of-the-art of ongoing programs. Champion: R. R.
