Ti-5-5-5-3 Property Uniformity Through Improved Forging Controls

Forging and qualification of titanium alloy Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-3Cr using improved forging equipment and techniques along with refinement of the solution heat treatment cooling rate has provided tightened property distribution.  Examples of forgings with various cross sections and their corresponding property distributions will be presented.
