Thompson Friction Welding will show some real material and machining reductions by examples of demonstration parts to allow engineers to evaluate the buy to fly ratio and machining improvements that can be achieved using the high quality friction welding or bonding process

Allowing expensive forgings or billets to be built up using linear friction welding can reduce buy to fly ratios from 10;1 to 2;1 in many cases giving a huge cost and environmental savings.

Thompson will be exhibiting actual sample parts and billets to demonstrate the massive material reductions possible. The parts have been welded on the E100 multi award wining linear friction welding machine available for development and pre-production parts in the UK.

Thompson also will demonstrate the state of the art bonding process and present our latest Direct Drive Inertia Hybrid friction welding machines specifically developed for joining the latest Aerospace materials.
