Looking to the Future: Since its founding in 2002 by serial entrepreneur Elon Musk, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) has advanced a vision for commercial spaceflight (both for unmanned and manned missions) that has challenged certain conventions in the industry. In 2010, SpaceX became the first private entity ever to successfully Launch and Reenter a spacecraft, and this year, the company will attempt to become the first private firm ever to berth with the International Space Station. This presentation focuses on the philosophy and approaches taken by SpaceX to date, and presents a vision for the decade ahead, with an emphasis on public policy and business models.
