The Airware (TM) 2050, third generation of Al-Li shows additional good properties on different kind of forged parts. More than 100 close die forgings have been forged for the past 4/5 years, and open die forgings from 30mm to 300mm have been achieved.
Forgings abilities and characteristics of the Airware (TM) 2050 T852 have been confirmed and the grade exhibits great improvements regarding traditional 7xxx high strength alloys. The grade, with a lower density, shows tensile properties above the 7050 alloy, an exceptional stress corrosion resistance and better fatigue properties.
Aubert & Duval is running an allowable program in order to present the grade to the AMS committee and to the MMPDS coordination group.
Next development step, with Constellium, industrial partners and research centers, is the OFELIA Program which aims to maximize the life time eco-efficiency of parts using Airware (TM) technology
