TIMETAL 54M (Ti-5Al-4V-0.75Mo-0.5Fe) shows low flow stress in addition to higher elongation under slow strain rate conditions at relatively lower temperatures, which is required for lower temperature superplastic forming. The manufacturing of fine grain Ti54Msheets was performed in a production scale. This paper will present various mechanical properties of the sheets including flow stress and flow behavior at slow strain rate. Alloying elements and microstructural effects that control superplasticity of alpha-beta alloys will be discussed.
