Update on Aerospace Extrusion and Forging New Product Development at Alcoa

New Al-Li forged products from Alcoa have undergone significant development during the last 2-3 years. A detailed summary of results from this work will be presented. Status of specification development will be discussed as well as timelines for inclusion into AMS and MMPDS documents. Extruded Al-Li products have experienced significant acceptance by the market place into new aerospace applications. This has motivated the building of a new casting facility at Alcoa Lafayette. Progress in the construction and commissioning of a new casting plant will be discussed as well as new applications for Al-Li extruded products.
