Rotary Wing Materials from Innovations to Aftermarket

Thursday, April 4, 2013: 1:00 PM
Exhibit Halls A&B (Meydenbauer Center)
Mr. Mike H. Ambrose , Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford, CT
Aerospace engineers are faced with daunting challenges to design tomorrow’s aircraft and keep today’s aircraft flying. Tomorrow’s aircraft require 21st century design tools, processes and materials to meet ever increasing customer needs and requirements (strength, weight, functionality, durability, reparability, manufacturing, assembly, and green sustainability), at an affordable price and fast time to market. Today’s aircraft require 21st century innovation to find the right combination of legacy and new design tools, process and materials to modernize and upgrade the aircraft, at an affordable price and fast time to market. This presentation will explore life cycle considerations in the development and application aerospace materials using system engineering tools and processes on rotorcraft platforms.
