Titanium gas atomization is an effective and efficient process for manufacturing high-purity spherical powders that have excellent flowabilty, packing densities, and chemistry control.  A common goal in the gas atomization of titanium powder is minimizing contamination that occurs during the atomization process.  This contamination can come from several sources including refractory materials used anywhere in the system, iron pickup from the hot powder impinging the tower walls, improper cleaning procedures, or contaminated raw material sources.  This presentation will detail a new Titanium Atomization System that successfully addresses all sources of contamination and produces economical high-purity powders in production quantities.
