Technologies of laser welding and cutting from titanium and nickel alloys were developed. CAD/CAE modeling allowed 3-D processing of complex-shaped parts. Tenfold performance increase was achieved at laser cutting comparing with machining. High accuracy and low thermal distortions were achieved as well. Studies have shown a preference of laser welding versus electron beam welding according to criteria of quality and processability. The results were applied in manufacturing of heat resistant aircraft engine parts and large size titanium structures.
