Recent Developments Related to the Production of Low Cost Spherical Titanium Powder

A steady, continually increasing interest for low cost spherical titanium and titanium alloy powder exists in today’s marketplace.  In light of the recent advances in additive manufacturing and metal injection molding, the demand pull for quality material is seen from not only the aerospace markets, but also from the automotive, specialty electronics, and medical markets.  Alternative approaches to the traditional induction melt and bottom pour technique are being evaluated and, in some cases, implemented.  This presentation will discuss recent work by Retech Systems LLC related to the production of low cost spherical titanium alloy powder.
