UNSM treatment temperature effect on the microstructure, mechanical and tribological properties of D2 tool steel

As automakers are challenged to improve safety and fuel economy, they search for new materials to meet higher standards. The demand for high strength steel is continuously growing, but a processing increasingly stronger steel strips reduces the service life of dies, punches, etc. In this study, an ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification was applied to D2 tool steel at ambient and high temperatures. The UNSM treatment temperature effect on microstructure, mechanical properties and wear performance of D2 steel will be investigated.
