European launchers developments and technologies: perspectives and challenges

The development of Ariane 6 and Vega C launchers are key challenges for European space industry  in the next years.  Key drivers for these developments are reliability and  costs: keep the high reliability standard while cutting cost. The objectives are the leadership in the commercial market and an affordable access to Space for the European institutional missions . The main features of these new launchers development,  in terms of design approach,  enabling technologies,  organisation and planning are presented, together with the approach  to prepare the future evolutions and technologies.
