Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace Applications - Implementation Strategy

Wednesday, April 12, 2017: 8:00 AM
Room 6 - 7 (Charleston Area Convention Center)
Mr. William Wentland , UTC Aerospace Systems, Rockford, IL
Additive manufacturing for aerospace necessitates a full understanding of the entire additive process value stream, specifically in the areas of the material or alloy, the powder, the machine, and the machine build theme.  Each of these areas factor into the material characterization and statistical data generated for a particular material and part.  Candidate parts were examined and down selected into part families for technology and manufacturing development.  Additive process value stream and control of the four key areas mentioned above for the various part families will be discussed.
