A key requirement for beginning to implement metallic additive manufacturing technologies on commercial aircraft platforms is demonstrating compliance to FAA regulations. This presentation addresses the approach employed to meet these requirements for successfully implementing 787 Passenger Floor Galley Diagonal Fittings fabricated using the titanium wire feed process. Included are discussions regarding controls of material and fabrication methods, non-destructive inspection approaches and generation of material design values.
