Modification of a low pressure plasma sprayed Ni-Ti coating by post-spray heat treatment and cryogenic treatment

Abstract In this study, the heat-treatment and the cryogenic treatment were employed to modify a low pressure plasma sprayed (LPPS) Ni-Ti coating with a blended powder. The effects of heat and cryogenic treatment on combination properties, including the microstructure, mechanical property, anti-wear and anti corrosion property, and residual stress of the Ni-Ti coatings were studied by microstructure and properties analysis. The results show that the combination properties are optimum, the microhardness can be highly increased. Meanwhile, the microstructure, and the anti-wear and anti-corrosion properties, residual stress reduced can be improved after the heat and cryogenic processes.
