Title: Metal Additive Manufacturing – The Last Five Years and Current Trends From an Intellectual Property Perspective

In the last five years, thousands of patent applications seeking patent protection on metal additive manufacturing (AM) related technologies have been filed in the United States alone. Companies in the metal AM intellectual property space include OEM providers such as Velo3D, Desktop Metal, Arcam and EOS GmbH, and manufacturing entities such as General Electric, United Technologies, Boeing, Sumitomo Electric and Siemens Energy. With so many companies and different technologies involved with or using metal AM, keeping abreast of the latest developments and key players can be challenging.

In an attempt to provide an overall view of recent developments in metal AM, the presentation will review the patent landscape of metal AM machines/systems, methods and materials, and a list of key players in the metal AM intellectual property. The presentation will also review recent patent infringement court battles involving metal AM intellectual property.
