Low Cost Manufacturing and Affordable Structures for small cargo aircraft

Purpose

The purpose is to design a low-cost single piston powered aircraft to deliver cargo to various territories in the United States and other parts of the world. This aircraft purpose is to be a short to medium range aircraft. This will minimize the use of twin engine aircraft which can be costly in operations. The goal will be to design a single engine aircraft with the same capabilities as a twin engine airplane.

Material and Structures

I designed a small cargo aircraft with the use of SolidWorks. With this program, I can design the aircraft, select appropriate material, and design the appropriate structure for the wing ribs, Engine mount, and structure for carrying hardware including hydraulics, electronics and fuel tanks. I may also suggest the use of composites for the aircraft interior walls and exterior cover and additive manufacturing of some aircraft parts

Findings and Conclusion

In this presentation, I will talk about Material Selection, the use of raw materials, and manufacturing selections in regards to manufacturing small aircraft and upgrading existing aircraft. This research paper will show how aircraft parts can be operated using Plasma cutters, Waterjet cutters and CNC machines and also how designed parts can be outsourced to different vendors for Manufacturing purposes. This can likely save time and money on Manufacturing Operations.
