Arconic’s Unique Capabilities in Supplying Aluminum Products for Space Applications

Over the last 70+ years, Arconic and its predecessor companies have been a premier manufacturer of aluminum alloy sheet, plate, and extruded products, and has remained a dedicated partner supporting airframers and spacecraft builders. Arconic Davenport Works, a vertically integrated facility located on the banks of the Mississippi river, houses the world's widest rolling mill and biggest thick plate stretcher to produce standard and unique aluminum products. In addition, extrusion operations located at Arconic Lafayette houses an impressive 14K Ton-force extrusion press capable of making both solid and hollow extruded products. Combined assets from both locations can produce a range of large, wide and /or thick flat-rolled or extruded products in alloys including Aluminum-Lithium, 2XXX, 6XXX and 7XXX. This legacy continues on today with the utilization of Arconic advanced 7XXX plate alloys for structural applications, very wide plate for monolithic, single piece fuel domes, and large diameter extruded tubes.
