The water cavitation abrasive surface finishing & peening process (CASF) has been developed to use a powerful shock wave to remove the build structure from additive manufactured metal components. Kinetically energized abrasives mixed under high pressure with a high energy cavitating cloud of water vapor bubbles are used to blow away partially melted particles and smooth the surface to meet aerospace standards.
