AM Applications for Automotive, Defense & Aerospace at MT Aerospace

Additive manufacturing is in application with PBF since several years in all kinds of markets and materials. Based on long times experience, heritage gained for Ti-6Al-4V, AlMgSi10, AISI 316 has been introduced step by step to industrial applications. Small series products with complex shapes and high tolerance requirements are produced on different AM machines depending size and material restrictions.

In parallel DED process is currently under development showing advantages in geometry thickness and size but also higher stability in mechanical properties and lower porosity density. Challenges of industrialization are fast prediction of shrinkage to accelerate pre production phase and accompanying processing as heat treatment, machining etc. which are widely available in house.

The presentation will give a summary overview of the state of the art balance of development, optimization & industrialization
