Case Studies in High Temperature Damage in Power Plant Components

Registration Fee:  $100 USD (not included in full conference registration)

Presenters:
John Siefert (EPRI)
Ian Perrin (Triaxis Power Consulting LLC)

Abstract: The investment of present and future research must be informed by the evolving observations awarded by in-service component performance and validated by the well-pedigreed ex-service components or systems through an integration of metallurgical evaluation, destructive testing, and structural analysis. This special workshop will provide a review of recent outcomes executed by EPRI and collaborating organizations on two well-known case studies to the energy industry for which an updated and comprehensive dataset has been obtained, in part, by a recently completed DOE-sponsored project (LINK). Since the completion of this body of research, on-going EPRI studies continue to emphasize the detailed findings and shed light on refined revelations critical to researchers, end-user/owners, and other stakeholders in the energy supply chain. At the conclusion of the formal presentation agenda, an opportunity will be provided for question and answer, and general discussion to ensure attendees have an opportunity to extract maximum impact and learnings from this workshop co-hosted by EPRI and ASM prior to the 10th International Conference on Advances in Materials, Manufacturing, and Repair for Power Plants.
