Relation between the Mechanical Properties of the Steel Brazed Joints and its Filler Metal Elements and Surface Roughness of Base Metal

Y. SUEZAWA, College of Science and Technology, Nihon University, Yokohama-shi, Japan

View in WORD format

Summary: The mechanical properties of high precise brazed machine parts under high temperature and pressure condition are very important in order to keep their performances. However, some of fractured accidents of these engine parts have been reported, because of insufficiency of brazed joints strength caused by unsuitable brazing process. From above view point, this study have been carried out under preparing of newly developed Pd contained filler metals and various kinds of brazing surface roughness. As the results, the brazed specimen with Pd contained filler metals have shown high tensile strength than that of one with other filler metals under both of room and high temperature conditions. And also, the coarse surface brazed specimen have shown higher mechanical strength (tensile, fatigue and torsion) than that of one with smooth brazing surface due to large actual brazed area and its anchor effect etc.
