Summary: This presentation is based on the wide experience of the authors in the practical use of magnetic flux controllers in induction heat treating systems. A description of the different materials available and their respective properties is provided. Induction coil manufacturing techniques that can enhance induction coil performance using magnetic flux controllers will be presented. Special attention is paid to methods of application and maintenance of induction heating coils with magnetic flux controllers. Illustrations with some examples of state-of the-art induction coils with Fluxtrol or Ferrotron magnetic flux controllers applied are shown. This presentation is addressed to and will be beneficial for OEM’s and users of induction heat treating equipment and processes, providing information on advanced induction coil design and technology.
