Induction Hardening and Tempering in an Atmosphere

G. Gariglio, Inter-Power Corporation, Almont, MI

View in WORD format

Summary: Induction heat treating and tempering in an atmosphere has been proven to yield results that can be better then that achieved with a traditional furnace. This includes the range of hardness, the microstructure, and the surface quality of the part. In addition, these machines are compact, controllable, and cost effective. With the compact size, the package lends itself well to the “Cell Concept”. Compared to Batch heat treating, the “Work-in- Process” may be eliminated.
