Summary: In spite of long history of Nitriding processes, their application in industry is still limited in traditional way. However, the recent trends in automotive power train seem to open new application of Nitrocarburizing over the historical Nitriding technology. Also, the industrial efforts and scientific understanding of the Nitriding and Nitro-carburizing processes seems to advances the technical improvement of Nitro-carburizing processes. In this paper, based on the comparisons of various Nitriding and Nitro-carburizing processes a few new approaches are discussed to advance Nitro-carburizing technology.
