Step by Step Justification for Process Change

M. S. Chatterjee, Inductoheat, Madison Hts., MI

Today’s global economy dictates that all different aspects of manufacturing are closely monitored not only to produce high quality parts, but a process is used which produce superior mechanical and metallurgical properties at a lower manufacturing will cost.

The old concept of “don’t fix unless it is broke” is no longer valid today. This paper will identify different steps to justify a process change. Cost justification and manufacturing characteristics will be cited for two product changes.
