Abstract Microalloyed low carbon ferrite-pearlite steels are increasingly used in automotive parts in place of quench and tempered steels.the aim of these research is finding the effect of forging conditions such as preheating of specimen before forging and cooling rate after forging on mechanical properties of microalloy steel 38MnSVSi5.using dilatometric test, critical temperature found 756C and 828C respectively.it has been found that by increasing forging temperature and cooling rate, tensile strength increased and impact energy and ferrite percent decreased.microstructure of specimens investigated using light microscopy
