Optimal Control of Induction Surface and Through Heated Rods Bars and Wires

Y. E. Pleshivtseva, Samara State Technical University, Samara, Russia

The main goal of presented in the paper investigations consists in optimal control techniques development and analysis of their applications for optimisation of steady-state and transient modes of induction through heaters. The created techniques have been adjusted to particular widespread induction heating applications.

Developed optimization techniques have been tested for:·       various models of the heating processes;
·       different types of control actions and restrictions;
·       different transient modes;
·       single- and multi-sectional heaters.

The different examples of optimal control techniques application are considered and common conclusions are made.

Summary: The paper presents results of optimal control technique application for induction heating installation operating in steady-state and transient modes. It is shown that new techniques allow increasing of heating quality and decreasing metal and energy losses. The developed optimal control techniques are described in a form that can be used by the engineers. New optimization method can be recommended to practical application for optimal control of more complicated induction heating processes as well as for optimal design of induction heaters of different types.
