How to Improve Inductor Life, Part 2

W. I. Stuehr, D. C. Lynch, INDUCTION TOOLING, INC., North Royalton, OH

Part 2 will continue our discussion of inductors commonly used in the process of selective hardening.  The focus will be on two inductor types commonly prone to failure:  Single Shot and Scanning Inductors.  This presentation includes updated photos and case histories of failed inductors along with systems analysis and improvements that helped prevent inductor failures.  Also in Part 2, we will discuss inductor modeling, proper design, manufacture, cooling, and quench system maintenance.

Summary: Our continuing lecture will cover the topic of Inductor Maintenance. We will explain the processes that we use to properly diagnose inductor failures through modeling, design, manufacture, cooling, quench and system maintenance.
