Further Developments in Induction Brazing

K. D. Spain, Radyne Corporation, Milwaukee, WI

Induction brazing has been utilized for some years. However, it has been limited in its application, largely due to the investment cost of induction power generating equipment and induction tooling design. Enhancement in these areas has resulted in a greater potential for induction brazing to be utilized more widely in industry. This paper reviews the induction heating principles, how they are applied to induction brazing applications, and discusses some unusual and unique induction heating resolutions to brazing processes. The author, Kelvin Spain, is currently President of Radyne Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has more than 30 years of experience in the design and application of induction heating systems
