Session 2: Low Pressure Case Hardening I
Location: D3-22/23 (COBO Center)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: Low pressure vacuum carburizing (lpc) technology has emerged as a price competitive technology offering significant manufacturing advantages related to improvements in manufacturing efficiencies, reduced stock allowances, and faster turnaround times. The technology is well positioned to take advantage of new material advances allowing cycle optimization and offers savings in both energy and the environment. Low pressure vacuum carburizing is lean manufacturing capable. Both the captive and the commercial heat treaters will benefit from understanding what has driven industry change and the opportunities and challenges which lie ahead. Key technology issues will be explored in the various sessions to be offered.
