In the present investigation the influence of the phase composition of the nitrided zone of the nitrided layer over the wear resistance of two steels for heat treatment – BH11 and BH21 is revealed.
The influence of the parameters of the ion nitriding process as well as of the temperature of annealing on the depth of penetration of the counter-body into the nitrided sample has been considered.
The results reveal the relationship between the depth of penetration of the counter-body, the phase composition, the thickness of the nitrided zone of the nitrided layer and the structure of the main material of the nitrided steels.
For the investigation of the two steels a mathematical model is used which gives the connection between the parameters of running the process of ion nitriding, structure of the main material and the amount of penetration of the counter-body in the nitrided zone of the nitrided layer.
