Low Pressure Vacuum Carburizing In Aerospace Applications

V. Lelong, ECM USA, Inc., Kenosha, WI

The presenter will be able to illustrate how Low Pressure Vacuum carburizing can be a viable carburizing method for Aerospace materials. This will be performed by reveiwing the list of materials that have been processed today and the appropriate results from processing these parts. Furthermore the presenter will discuss the methods and design of the equipment used in Aerospace and specifically address the issues associated with AMS 2759D and how they affect the equipment.

Summary: This presentation will involve data on aerospace type materials illustrating data including expected microstructures. We will also look at the challenges of AMS2750D in a Vacuum Carburizing application.
