Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) is a relatively new discipline that has begun to show great promise in reducing the cost and time to design and deploy new materials, manufacturing technologies, and products.  The key computational models in ICME include microstructure models, process models, and performance prediction models.  To optimize a welded structure design with ICME approach, microstructure models for carbon steel, process models for simulating welding process, and performance models for predicting tensile strength, deformation, creep and fatigue life were developed. This paper introduces the development and implementation of ICME during designing welded structures.
