Die quenching is one of effective method to control the deformation of auto gear in quenching process. However, it could be challenging to understand, predict and further minimize the deformation of circular-arc bevel gear in industrial application because of multiple influencing factors. In this paper, a comprehensive model with metallurgy and stress analysis coupled was built to demonstrate the gear deformation with consideration of quenching machine, process parameters and variation of steel compositions. The mechanism of deformation is explained and optimizing method is proposed by using the model, which has been validated on temperature history and microstructure characterization.
