Endothermic Generator Advanced Diagnostic System

Endothermic gas generators are critical infrastructure for heat treats.  A well-made and well maintained generator acts like an on-site utility.  However, due to production needs, heat treat operators often neglect maintenance and don’t notice signs of trouble until it is too late.  To help heat treat operators plan for preventative maintenance and troubleshoot operation, Surface Combustion developed an advanced diagnostics package for its RX endothermic gas generators.  An overview of the software and instrumentation in this package and an installation case study will be presented.  Additionally, best practices to extend life of endothermic generator retorts and catalyst will be given.
