Heat treating power supplies, transformers, capacitors and inductors function as an induction electrical circuit. This electrical circuit controls the power and frequency delivered during the induction hardening process. Other non-electrical elements function as part of this circuit including: the material handling unit and the quench system. This presentation will demonstrate a typical induction scanning operation from set-up to a finished sectioned part. An explanation of this circuit will be discussed in an easy to comprehend non-technical format. Fundamentals of the different components of this system will be covered including an explanation of how the process parameters of frequency and power are determined.
