Industry 4.0 and IIOT aren’t exactly new terms even in an industry that at times, progresses slower than others. Within the past 2-3 years, there has been a significant increase in awareness amongst both Commercial and Captive Heat Treaters of this push to become more of a “smart factory” and be able to address some of the obstacles and issues they may be faced with as we progress into the next decade.

While the industry is indicating strong growth projections over the next couple of years, there is some uncertainty in the future economic conditions contributing to an indecision on what technology investments into their factory will maximize their return on investment. Despite the increased awareness of Industry 4.0 and desire to progress towards a “smart factory”, many do not realize the low cost and high return that many new technologies, solutions, and practices can have on the industry today.
