The component cleaning before and after the heat treatment is today an integral part of heat treatment processes and a prerequisite for a high-quality component. Residues on the workpiece surfaces not only affect the heat treatment result, but also the function of the heat treatment system and the quenching agent used. Incomplete cleaning after heat treatment may interfere with subsequent coating processes.

Not only the choice of the water quality and the suitable cleaner have an influence on the cleaning result. Rather, an optimal or better cleaning result can only be achieved if the component geometry, the type and amount of contamination, the system technology and the procedure are coordinated with each other.

This will show how various hardening applications are optimally supported by a water based cleaning system. What has to be considered in the design of the system and how the process can be monitored and controlled in later operation are key questions to be answered. The use of smart cleaning technologies makes monitoring and controlling the cleaning process easier and more transparent. Tools for measuring component cleanliness and liquid monitoring enable almost fully automatic process control and provide complete documentation of product quality determining parameters.
