Optimizing Industrial Heating for Efficiency and a Positive Environmental Impact
The first focus is on recuperative industrial combustion using different recuperation technologies for the high temperature heat treatment of steel products and medium temperature applications in the aluminum industry. A short excursion into hydrogen combustion is included in this presentation.
The second focus is on how these technologies can be applied to modernize and retrofit existing furnace systems to achieve more fuel efficiency and lower the carbon footprint along with lower environmental impact from NOx pollution.
The third focus is on electric heating applications with its challenges to replace combustion, with a much higher heat density vs. electric heating systems. As new technologies are developed beyond resistance heating using resistance alloys, SiC or MoSi2, the presentation also talks about pilot projects using plasma torches, high alloy foam material for resistance heating and inductive thermo-jets to generate ultra hot process gases.
