Session 3: Ceramic and Glass Joining 1
Location: Executive Salon 2 (Crowne Plaza Riverwalk San Antonio)
(Please check final room assignments on-site).
Session Description: The four ceramic and glass joining sessions at IBSC offer the most comprehensive coverage of this topic currently available at a conference. It brings together some of the world’s foremost experts to deliver the latest information and recent developments in this challenging area. Topics to be covered include hermetic metal:ceramic sealing with active brazes to the braze joining of low-temperature co-fired ceramics; brazing of Al2O3 to SUS304; sealing of solid oxide fuel cells and the brazing of cubic boron nitride. We will also examine basic studies of wetting and alloy additions that enhance wetting in glasses and/or ceramic:metal joints. The effect of titanium diffusivity on the formation of phases in active brazed ceramic joints, as well as mechanical behavior of selected active brazes will be discussed. Process advances to be reviewed include microwave brazing, reduced-temperature transient-liquid-phase bonding.
