Abstract

Vacuum aluminum brazing delivers extremely clean, flux-free braze joints of high integrity and superior strength.  Optimizing thermal and mechanical properties and reducing residual stresses is possible when one focuses on excellent temperature uniformity.  

Vacuum aluminum brazing is a careful balance of time, temperature and vacuum level. Normally, a load is set in a preheated furnace, then quickly evacuated to a vacuum level of 10-4 to 10-5 Torr to maintain the fundamental brazing success parameters - get it in, get it hot, get it clean, get it wet and get it out. This is done in a specific, controlled work environment utilizing sophisticated controls regimes to insure fast pumping, low oxygen  levels and enhanced temperature uniformities combined in one synergistically-designed vacuum furnace system.
