Abstract

Super-Ni/NiCr laminated composite has application prospect in aerospace, energy and power industries for its potential to reduce weight and improve performance of the joint structures. Super-Ni/NiCr laminated composite and Cr18-Ni8 stainless steel was jointed by means of advanced vacuum brazing technology with Ni-Cr-P filler metal. Microstructure, microhardness, elements distribution and mechanical properties were measured to evaluate the quality of the vacuum brazing joint. Excellent brazing joint was obtained at heating temperature 1020-1040°C, and the brazed joint region can be divided into solid solution zone and eutectic zone. Element distribution indicated that P element mainly concentrated in eutectic zone forming Ni3P. There was Ni2Cr particle precipitating in the NiCr base layer with the influence of brazing heating cycle. And the amount increased as the brazing temperature increased. Experimental results indicated that good joint shear strength as high as 137MPa was obtain when performed at heating temperature 1040°C for holding time 20min.
