The Role of Residual Stress in Failure Analysis

This presentation shall discuss the role of residual stress in failure analysis. The presentation shall explore the creation of residual stress during fabrication, assembly, installation and thermal exposure. The presentation will then discuss why the knowledge of residual stress is critical to failure analysis. Lastly, the failure of a brass component by residual stress shall be presented.
